Emma Black

Every year the D&AD set briefs for undergraduates to get involved in and submit, in hope that the company picks them as the winner.  Pretty much all students from visual communication courses across the UK enter and it's a massive achievement when a student wins.  There are many categories such as typography, corporate identity, awareness campaigns, animation etc.

Emma Black, one of our class mates for the past three years, was successful in winning the D&AD Diesel Project In Book prize.

The work is illustrating David Bowie's album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars." The illustration was inspired by the two songs "Moonage Daydream" and "Rock N' Roll Suicide" and is to be viewed as one long image. The illustration was also intended to be printed in a anniversary edition of the album as an 18 page concertina booklet, to illustrate the concept and story behind the album.

Checkout the amazing galactic booklet below which she has used combining a mix of mono prints, drawing, painting and collage.

Emma will also be showing her work at our final degree show at Ambika P3, IDENTITY 2012.
